Battleship Performance

Tour- Command & Control

Explore the areas of Battleship Wisconsin with a historical interpreter and learn how the Battleship was commanded and would fight in the control areas of the ship including the Captain’s Cabin, Pilot House, and Combat Engagement Center.

This guided tour is 90 minutes in length and includes areas only accessible with a guide. The tour requires climbing up 4 levels (floors) and entering tight spaces. The tour is not wheelchair or stroller accessible, and handbags/backpacks are not recommended. Comfortable walking shoes are highly recommended. Recommended for ages 8 and up.

- Each participant must also purchase an admission ticket to participate in the tour.

Sail Nauticus First Sails

Perfect for anyone new to sailing or rediscovering sailing! Enjoy a two-hour introduction to sailing on the Elizabeth River. Up to three participants will learn from a Sail Nauticus instructor how to hardness the wind and navigate the boat in one of our Harbor 20 sailboats. For more details, click here.

We will make every attempt to reschedule your experience. However, if you need to cancel or reschedule for any reason, changes are subject to a $25 processing fee.

  • Cancellations made more than 4 weeks in advance of the scheduled start date of your sailing experience are entitled to a full refund minus the $25 processing fee.
  • Cancellations made less than 4 weeks and more than 1 week in advance of the scheduled start date are entitled to a 50% refund of the program fee minus the $25 processing fee.
  • Cancellations made less than 1 week in advance of the scheduled start date are non-refundable.

No refunds or discounts will be made for missed classes, vacation days or dismissal from the program.

Add On: Lighthouse STEM

What is the purpose of a lighthouse and who makes sure these important aids to navigation are ship shape? In this program students will investigate the history of lighthouses, who served at these navigational aids in the Hampton Roads area, and the amazing science of lighthouse lenses. Students will participate in a hands-on experiment to learn about reflection and refraction and participate in a Fresnel lens engineering challenge.

Tour: VIP Battleship Experience

Experience an exclusive guided tour hosted by our Battleship Operations Manager (& Desert Shield/Desert Storm Veteran of the Wisconsin), Keith Nitka, as he takes you on an in-depth exploration of the Wisconsin touring spaces not accessible on any other tour. Throughout the experience, guests will be able to ask questions and hear a first - hand account of being aboard Battleship Wisconsin when she was active duty. Tour concludes with a visit to the top of the ship offering breathtaking, panoramic views of the Elizabeth River, nearby naval shipyards, and the city of Norfolk. This is a 80-min experience, and ticket price includes access to all Nauticus & Battleship exhibits for exploration before or after your tour.

The experience is not wheelchair or stroller accessible and requires climbing ladders and entering tight spaces.

Tour- Life in the Engine Room

This fascinating tour takes visitors seven “decks” (aka floors) down in the depths of the Battleship Wisconsin, where they’ll learn exactly what was required to power this massive City at Sea. See up close, never-before-open-to-the-public engine room spaces aboard the Battleship Wisconsin

This guided tour is 60 minutes in length and includes areas only accessible with a guide. The tour requires climbing levels (floors) and entering tight spaces. Spend the night aboard the battleship in her historic berthing complete with a VIP tour of the ship and Nauticus' exhibits, engaging activities and more. Experience concludes with breakfast in the historic wardroom. This unique experience is perfect for families of all ages.
